KUWAIT CITY, June 1: Travel ban has been applied on 100,000 citizens and expatriates of Kuwait after final verdicts were issued against them last week, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable security sources.
They revealed that 58,000 citizens and 42 expatriates of 12 different nationalities including Indian, Bangladeshi, Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, Pakistani, Filipino, Nepali and Ethiopian have been banned from leaving the country.
They explained that the top reason for the travel ban is the inability of the individuals to pay their debts and dues, revealing that some individuals have been banned from travelling for not paying debts lesser than KD 100.
They pointed out that individuals, who have been banned from travelling for only financial reasons and not because of court verdicts against them, can pay their dues at the departure port without facing any complications.
Meanwhile security operatives from Jahra Command, under the close watch of security chief Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah, continued their intensive security campaign in Amghara scrapyard and arrested 30 violators of residency law with others wanted for different offenses.
Major General Al-Tarrah, Taima Security Commandant Colonel Falah Mohsin, Head of Sa’ad Al-Abdullah Police Station Lt Colonel Mohammad Fuhaid and Head of Taima Police Station Major Ghunaim Al-Thufaeri led the team that erected a checkpoint where they arrested the suspects. The officers have referred the suspects to concerned authorities for legal procedures.
